One of the great features of the Thesis Skin Editor is the Canvas—a separate browser window that updates to reflect your HTML changes every time you save a template.
And the best part? The Canvas even updates on the fly while you write your CSS!
To display the Canvas, Thesis needs to open a separate pop-up window. Here’s how to make sure it can do that in the most modern browsers:
Chrome
If pop-ups are blocked in Chrome when Thesis attempts to launch the Canvas, you should see a “Pop-ups blocked” alert message within the URL address bar. Simply click on that message, and then select “Always allow pop ups from [yoursite].”
Next, refresh the Skin Editor window (Mac: command + r, Win: ctrl
+ r), and Thesis should now be able to launch the Canvas pop-up window successfully.
Firefox
If pop-ups are blocked in Firefox when Thesis attempts to launch the Canvas, you should see an alert bar across the top of your screen that says “Firefox prevented this site from opening a pop-up window.”
Locate the Preferences or Options button on the right side of the alert, click it, and then select “Allow pop-ups for [yoursite].”
Next, refresh the Skin Editor window (Mac: command + r, Win: ctrl
+ r), and Thesis should now be able to launch the Canvas pop-up window successfully.
Safari
Safari does not offer the ability to control pop-ups on a per-site basis—they’re either ALL blocked, or ALL allowed. To allow all pop-ups:
- Go to Safari > Preferences
- Click the Security icon/tab
- Ensure that the “Block Pop-Up Windows” option is NOT checked
- Close the opened dialog box(es)
Internet Explorer
If pop-ups are blocked in Internet Explorer when Thesis attempts to launch the Canvas, you should see an alert bar across the bottom of your screen that says, “Internet Explorer blocked a pop-up from [yoursite].”
Look for an Options for this site button on the right. Click that button, and then select “Always allow.”
Next, refresh the Skin Editor window, and Thesis should now be able to launch the Canvas pop-up window successfully.
