Hello all,
I am brand new to anything close to developing, and unfortunately first block in my way: I downloaded the wordpress.org and Thesis theme files, and not sure how to even start using it as a website. How do i even upload the files to server(I don’t have a server), and how do I start making a site. I have a e commerce with Yahoo, and wanted to leave them(no profits, $fees), to create awesome WordPress based site, because it sounds easy, but how do I even start?

Nina, Do you know of a way I can contact someone at Instinct Entertainment? I am not able to find a contact form there. I need to set up a WP theme store where I can sell themes and also set up a support forum. Please let me know if you know someone there.

For a totally untechnical person – sorry what does this mean please? – 1. fresh installation of WordPress – yes I have this though I am using the Twenty Ten theme and have only just started setting up! 2. Thesis Theme for WordPress – where do I find this – will it change all my settings and what I have already done? and 3. the WP e-Commerce plugin on your site – scary!
I so need an online store but I cannot do any coding unless really clearly mapped in a vid or with the kinds of examples you gave above. Should I just give up now! Tracy

Hey Nina, First this is absolutely fantastic. Can’t thank you enough for putting this together. After running through the tutorial, everything worked, but then I added:
function page() {
if (is_page(‘PAGEID’)) {
?>
and I got a parse error when I tried the page id # and the url. What could I be doing wrong here?

I Put the Thesis in my Shop. When the customer goes to the product page the add to cart button does not appear. And the categorys doesn’t showing the products images. The wp-e-commerce was instaled with other themes

I don’t see why it wouldn’t work, Fiona.

You may want to check out the GetShopped.org Showcase to see if you can find a site similar in functionality to what you envision. I know it always helps me to have a frame of reference 🙂
