Automattic announced earlier today the release of WordPress 2.6.5. Not much has changed within this version; a few bugs were squashed, and security was tightened up a bit. Because of the improvement in security, it is strongly recommended that you upgrade to this latest version of WordPress.
There are no known conflicts between Thesis and WordPress 2.6.5, so your upgrade should not affect how your blog displays. If you should have any issues, however, feel free to seek assistance on our support board.
And as always, thank you for using Thesis!

I can confirm Thesis still work after upgrading WP to 2.6.5. Smooth sailing. Have a upgrade everyone.
Playing with 1,3,1 on 2.6.5 – but only on my test site for the moment. I’ll scream if there are any problems.
Soon or later, I will try this theme, it’s so simple.
by the way, has this theme been seoed??
Looks like you folks have made some nice progress on Thesis and your support, but for a newbie it’s still geek/coder city.
Okay, maybe less so than some other places.
Way back when you first rolled out this theme I stopped in and asked if there was anybody in the neighborhood who would do some reasonably simple customizing work, for a reasonable amount of money.
There wasn’t.
Alas, I’m back…with the same question.
It’s not the $87 I care about, it’s the agony of even thinking about hanging around the forum and trying to understand CSS hooks, and other things that will supposedly make my site look better.
I want to write, not code.
So, is there anybody who is willing to do some work and not charge big bucks?
You probably don’t have to be a coding genius, at least if I’m to believe Chris.
Thanks.
@Jerry – Email me at brandon@sheatsb.com with what you need and we can work something out.
Hey Jerry, I just finished customizing two sites based on the Thesis framework, one being my personal blog: http://markhodder.com
You don’t have to be a coding genius but a customization like that one took about 10 hours of work to give you an idea of the time that may be involved depending on your needs.
You can contact me through my business site if your interested in discussing your project: http://yourwizard.ca
Thanks for the heads-up Chris!
Dave
I can confirm that Thesis 1.3.2 and Wordpress 2.6.5 live nicely together. No problems whatsoever.
Jerry, I may be able to help you out if you decide not to go with Mark or Brandon. You can contact me through my site.
I was hoping for the 2.7 release, but this will do for te moment. Oh..and I love you’re Thesis!
I upgraded to WP 2.6.5 and then to Thesis 1.3.2. All is going along famously.
I’m always scared of “borking” my blog (I have 2 and am rather time starved) so I outsource all my WP upgrades to my WP blog designer and have done for a couple of years now. My Thesis upgrade I did myself with help from the very helpful Thesis forum. As much as I want to learn how to customize and do the upgrades and such, I think I will also be outsourcing all but the simplest design tasks otherwise I’ll never get them done.
I consider it money well spent – time really is money for me. WP upgrades cost me only $25). I get everything done very competently while I focus at what I want to do and don’t end up tearing my hair out or troubleshooting my blog
When you folks upgraded, did you just click the link on WP and go? Or, did you copy files to a safe location, etc? Just trying to find out the extent of what was done here or if the upgrade was just a click away and you didn’t do anything else.
I don’t know about others, but I’m extremely cautious. So I do a complete backup and turn off plug-ins, then do the upgrades following Chris’ directions – http://diythemes.com/thesis/downloads/ . The upgrades are quick, the backing up takes some time, but I can set it to back up and do other things while it backs up
. It’s worth it. Now, having said that, I really need to do my Wordpress backup
David, upgrading can be done as usual — just download the WordPress package and upload it as normal — being careful not to overwrite your config.php file. Also, using the Automatic Upgrade plugin works wonderfully.
Note that the Automatic Upgrade plugin prompts to make backups of both files and database information automatically, so it’s quite safe.
Wordpress 2.7 is arriving…on DEC 4th!
http://en.blog.wordpress.com/2008/12/03/27-gets-here-in-two-days/
Will Thesis 1.3.2 work fine with this upgrade? I know from the Forums that threaded comments might not be… but is everything else going to be ok?
Nicky: December 4th is when WordPress 2.7 is installed at WordPress.com, *not* when it becomes available at WordPress.org for the rest of us. We probably have a week or two of waiting left.
Nicky,
I have a test site with WordPress 2.7RC1 and Thesis 1.32. Everything works just fine — no problems at all. The only plugin I’m using right now is KingdomGeek’s OpenHook. I’m going to be putting my custom.css and custom_functions.php onto the site in the near future to see how they work.
The only things I see that will need tweaking are the Thesis Options and Design Options. They work just fine, but all the styling is gone. They’re just a long list down the page, and the “big ass” save button is a “little ass” save button!
The only problem I’ve encountered is that the home page does not display any sidebars, multimedia box, etc. with Safari for Mac — FireFox is fine. But neither do the Classic or Default themes, either. The other pages display fine. I think this is a WP 2.7/Safari problem, not Thesis.
If you want to check it out, it’s Bipolar Disorder Health.
KG – thanks! I shall curb my enthusiasm
Mike – Thanks, I will take a look!
Hopefully, by the time 2.7 is officially released, Thesis will be updated to handle the changes transparently.
Don’t get your hopes up, Milan; WordPress 2.7 could hit anytime over the next week or two; Chris is on vacation for the next week and a half or so, so we’ll probably not see another Thesis release until Christmastime or a little after. I’ve not heard anything regarding any work on compatibility with WP 2.7 at this point; his focus on the next release has been on bringing us the homepage controls we’ve all been waiting with baited breath for.
thanks
