Flex Skin: How to Add Video to the Featured Header Area

Updated for Flex 2.0

Flex includes a large Featured Header area controlled by the Flex Media Box, and since version 1.1 Flex has also supported videos in this location. You can enable video by adding a video embed URL to the field provided below the post/page edit screen.

Note: a Featured Image is required in order for the Video to appear. This image will also act as a placeholder, so we encourage you to use a snapshot from the video or else use an image that is relevant to the video.

Videos provided by YouTube and Vimeo have a specific format for their embed URLs, since Flex 2.0 you can now just add the URL from the browser and Flex will work out the correct format for you.

Accepted Video Links

YouTube

https://www.youtube.com/embed/{video_id}
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v={video_id}

Vimeo

https://player.vimeo.com/video/{video_id}
https://vimeo.com/{video_id}

Once a video URL is provided, a play button will appear in the Featured Header area on the Page or Post.

Videos Uploaded to WordPress

Videos uploaded to WordPress via the media library can be used in the Featured Video Area, simply provide the path to the uploaded file.
