Derek, thanks for ALL your helpful advice! I’ve already installed the “PinIt” button at the top of my Thesis blog, and I’d like to add another one in the text of each post. I’d say something like “If you like this picture, PinIt.” and either insert the button to replace the word “PinIt” or else create a link on that word to activate the button.

Is either option possible? If so, how should I proceed?

I use the jetpack wordpress plugin’s sharing function to add social media buttons to the bottom of each post.

I can add a new service, it asks for sharing url and image url?

How would I add the pinterest pin, or rather which bit of code would I use?

To your point, the activity and links on Pinterest is bar none like nothing I have ever seen. Better than Twitter by far. Stuff can go viral in literally seconds from the time you pin something and generate a ton of links to your site. It’s a lot more fun and engaging than Twitter in my opinion and without all the negativity of Facebook.

Yes, there’s a 2-3 day delay on Pinterest “invites” — you can invite yourself — at least right now.

Not a big deal — until you poke around and realize there’s a ton of rockin’ vanity (the sub-directory kind) URLs available… c’mon emails, get here already! 😉
