Default more tag goes 404

I know this prob isnt a thesis issue, but I must have been doing this too long tonight and my brain is fried...

When I interrupt my post with the "More" tag from the editor options and save, it puts the neat little text there...see post or something like that. When I click on the link to go to the rest of the post on a new page I get this:

You 404’d it. Gnarly, dude.

Im sure I was supposed to direct the bottom of the post somehow but have forgotten how ??? Thanks, Meg

Meg -- Not sure what's happening. Do you have permalinks enabled and are they working?

Better, do you have a link to a post using the More tag that I can look at?

Hey Kingdomgeek (I like your name!)

first off ignore the pm I sent you...for some reason my desktop was not pulling in current posts and replies, but when I settled in later on my notebook, there was your reply! Thanks!

I checked my permalinks, this is a new site and I am just learning, and on top of that just switched theme over to thesis, so if I have a problem, there are potientially many variables!! I had set up my permalinks with at the custom bubble, so switched overto one of the other choices, I think it was month/date/post, and there was my page continued like a charm! So I thank you for your help!

Do have another question (of course) , the nav buttons at top of page-- I have the home, the about (renamed) and in the thesis options I chose oneof my categories and saved, but it does not show up Instead there is a nav button that says 'no categories'. Insight?? Meg

On a long shot... Does the category have any posts in it yet?

Glad you got the 404 issue worked out.

Did you ever find the answer to your "no categories" problem? Where you had a squashed little tab up in the Nav bar with a "no categories" label? Just wondering, since I've got the same issue.

Thanks.

Default No categories prob

my prob at the time was that I had selected a category that was actually a "child" category instead of a parent category. (selecting the ones to show in nav bar is done in the thesis options page) If the child category is selected for the nav bar and not the parent also, then you get the 'no categories' tab ...

(Make sure you have set up the categories you want to use in the settings - manage- categories area of your wp dashboard)

When I chose both the child and parent category, if I remember right, it gave me a kind of drop down nav button, which I didnt really like, so I solved the problem by renaming my categories and making the one that I wanted in the nav bar to be a parent category.

Also as Rick states above , if you have no posts in that category, then nothing will show in nav bar. Just throw a 'test' post with the category you want to show up in nav bar selected and publish it and see if your nav tab shows up. you can delete that test post later.

Also in the thesis options page , when selecting categories for your nav bar, you must use control+enter to select more than one category and then remember to use the "big ass save button"

Hope this helps some,.. Meg
