Default Adding a information box/table to just homepage

Can someone please let me know how to add a table/box to just the homepage? It would be the same as what is on the top of A 3-column template system with spectacular typography and customizable, rotating images — Thesis Theme for WordPress but I would want to customise the border and inside colours.

example: Just a WordPress theme? Hardly. Thesis is a search engine optimized HTML + CSS + PHP framework equipped with an innovative options panel that makes it easy for anyone to run a professional, customized blog or Website (without being a code jockey).

You can check out the latest and greatest features here, but there’s much more to come. Thesis is still in an “early adoption” stage, and members who sign up during this phase will receive free upgrades for life. Oh, and in case you’re wondering, the initial users are ecstatic

I hope that this make sense!

Cheers,
Ben.

You'll want to add your code to index.php, just after this line:

Code:
<div id="content"<?php thesis_content_classes(); ?>>

Should I generate my own code in a html editor and then paste it in or is there a function in wp to do this?

Thanks!

I did something similiar on my blog adding adding a small box at the end of all my posts encouraging visitors to subscribe to my feed. First, in your custom.css, define a box with the colors you want. Below is the code I added (these colors match the box on the Thesis demo page). I adjusted the font-size to make it smaller so you might want to change that part.

Code:
.custom .format_text p.note2 { padding: 0.57143em 0.78571em; background: #F7F3E2; border: 1px solid #DDCE93; font-size: 0.76em; }
Then insert your code right where Rick said to create your box, like this:

Code:
<p class="note2">Your code here</p>
