Hi, does anyone know how to do this?
I mean, for instance, that I could have a tab called 'About' but on the actual page the title would be 'All about this website', or whatever. I see Chris is doing it on the Thesis homepage, but is that hardcoded? On Chris' old Copyblogger theme the tabs picked up the last item in the permalink, which was a bit more flexible. The short names look cool as tabs but ugly as page titles... e.g: About — AquaDaily Would rather write 'All about AquaDaily', say. Hope someone can help, thanks in advance! ![]() |

So far I like it better than the All in One SEO plugin and it seems to work smoother too (IMHO). You can try both to see which one you prefer to use. You can use one on 1 blog site and the other plugin on another blog to do a type of comparison too.
Have a pleasant weekend. |

Sorry guys, the plug-in wasn't what I was after -- I don't think I was very clear.
![]() What I mean is that I want to have a different story article (the bit the reader sees, in h1 say) for my 'about' page, but still have 'about' in the tabs (along with home, etc). So on this about page I'd like to say "All about aquarium fish" or similar, just above the body text, instead of just "About". If I just change the title from about to "All about aquarium fish" then the tab gets very long. i.e. Just as Chris is doing here: People Like Thesis. Lots. — Thesis Theme for WordPress He has "Testimonials" in his tab, but his title is "People like thesis. Lots." That's what I don't understand / want to learn -- how he gets 'testimonials' to be his tab. Thanks very much for any more pointers (Chris? ) |

Doh, I'm sorry. I didn't even see that. (duh)
![]() I do know what you're speaking of, just didn't realize the other text had changed. Note: I did remove the video tutorial of my solution since Chris replied. Please send me a PM if you would like the link sent and I would be more than happy to give it to you while it's available. Last edited by richscent : 07-20-2008 at 10:33 PM. |

My nav menu on DIYthemes.com is a customized function that I built especially for the site. It doesn't rely on the native Thesis nav constructor; in fact, I manually coded that particular text.
I think the solution here is simply to offer a way to change the text that appears on each nav link. Here's what I'm thinking of regarding the options page functionality: If you've selected a page for inclusion in the nav menu, then a box will popup where you can input your desired text for that link. If a page is not selected, you won't see this box. Cool? |
