Hi guys
I'm new to the Thesis theme but have done some customisation work in other themes before. I can see the value of the "Post Image" in some cases, but the positioning of it is limited. It's fine if you want a design where you always have an image at the top, but if you have images at other places within the article, then you're potentially duplicating work and taking more time than you need to. For example, sometimes I don't want my post-image at the top before the content text. Sometimes I want to have an introduction text and then an image, followed by more text. I've worked on other themes before where you upload an image as normal and place it in the article where you want it, and the thumbnail image URL is automatically added as a custom meta tag which can then be used within the theme elsewhere (like an article listings page with thumbnail and excerpt). This way your post-image is automatically set as the thumbnail without having to do any extra work, AND it's in the position in your content where you want it. Anyone's thoughts on this? |

You can easily add images into the post the normal way, but I've never heard of a theme smart enough to automatically generate thumbnails as a custom field from your uploaded images. Not to say that you can't retrieve thumbnails of attached images and hook them in as thumbnails, I do exactly that on my photoblog page.
